Mixed workout
I walked on the treadmill for 30 minutes prior to working out with my personal trainer. He has me doing strength training, moving into free weights, for an hour twice a week. He really pushes me to do my best and today was a great workout.

Journaling
I’ve been working out, I haven’t been keeping track. So here I am back to keeping a journal. My goal is to be able to track my progress.
Today was spin class. I’m still brand new (it’s only my third class), but I like it. I don’t stand at this point and my tension is very low. Still, I’m running the drills, keeping up with the cadence of others in the class and feel as if I get a great workout. I have to get strong enough to stand pretty quickly because the seat hurts my butt.

Here I am again
I haven’t done anything (consistent) for months. I’ve made poor food choices and gained a few pounds.
As difficult as it is to be at this point again, the slide was a good thing. Sounds crazy but it’s true. I’ve begun to realize how truly bad my body feels when I eat too much salt, fat and sugar. How my muscles and joints ache and my mood hovers at ‘blah’ when I don’t exercise.
So, here I go again. Not starting over. Trying again. I learn more about myself with each effort. I make little changes that improve my health. I’ll make goals as I go along. At this point, my only goal is to embrace each baby step.

Quick one
I have things to do this afternoon so I had to squeeze in a quick treadmill walk. Only 20 minutes but I’m sweating. The training plan I’m using has me only doing 20 minutes 3 times a week at this point, working first on time (I guess) then on distance while maintaining my pace. Got to hit the shower and run out the door!

First official 5K walk
I couldn’t find my groove today and I’m not sure why. Maybe I was more anxious than I thought I’d be. Typically, I’m relaxed, have a song in my head, and can keep pace (my muscles don’t feel tight and my knee stops aching) by 8 or 9 minutes into my walk. Not today. It took me until mile marker #2 to get there. Still I did it! I walked in public. I got my first Tshirt. I made it from start to finish. Those were my goals for this virgin experience and I met them.
I hope Melody posts because she did a great job too. It really helps to have a partner in this. This will be the first of many for both of us and I’m excited at the prospect.
